Second year guard Daniel Dooley (Burlington, Ont.) filled up pretty much every category of the stat sheet on Friday (Nov. 21) to help the Gryphons overcome a 17-point deficit at the half and go on to win 63-56.  Dooley’s 13 points and five assists were both team-highs, but it was what the Gryphons did on the defensive end of the floor that was the difference in the game, and Dooley was a big part of that. The Burlington, Ontario native came up with three steals and four rebounds while logging a team-high 34 minutes of floor time. The Gryphons held Queen’s to just 14 points total in the second half (seven in the third quarter, seven in the fourth) as Guelph would go on to outscore the Gaels by 24 points in the second half to earn the 63-56 win. Also of note, Dooley racked up 15 points and four assists earlier in the week in an eight point loss to York on Wednesday (Nov. 19). Through five games this season, Dooley leads the Gryphons in scoring with 16.0 points per game. The Gryphons sit at 2-3 on the season and are in action again on Friday night (Nov. 28) in Sudbury when they take on Laurentian.
