Josh Seguin, a second year midfielder with the Gryphons Men's Soccer team, earns the title of Gryphon Athlete of the Week after playing a vital role in a helping his team pull off their biggest win of the season on Friday (Oct. 9) when they traveled to Windsor to hand the Lancers a 5-2 defeat. In that match, Seguin set the tone by scoring the opening goal of the match in the 10th minute to give the Gryphons a 1-0 lead. The Niagara Falls native would assist on two other goals and was directly responsible for three of the Gryphons five goals in the match. The feat is even more imnpressive when you take into account the opponent: coming into Friday's match with Guelph, the Windsor Lancers were one of the hottest teams in the country as they were riding a 7-game win streak and had recorded shutouts in six of those seven games. However, thanks to Seguin and the his teammates, that winning streak came to an end as the Gryphons were able to hand the Lancers just their second loss of the season. Seguin and his teammates will once again be in action on Wednesday, October 14 when the Gryphons (6-4-2) host Western (3-6-4) at the Gryphon Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.
