Third year student-athlete Ashley Connell earns Gryphon Athlete of the Week honours after setting a school record in shot put this past weekend at the Windsor Team Challenge. In the final round, the Brockville, Ontario native had a huge throw of 15.16m which propelled her to a first place finish at the meet while also moving her into second in the CIS rankings.
 
Connell, who majors in Food, Agricultural & Resource Economics, will be returning to Windsor in the near future as the Lancers play host to this year's OUA Championships (Feb. 26-27).
