Second year point guard Bridget Atkinson takes home Gryphon Athlete of the Week honours after filling up the stat sheet in a pair of road games over the weekend. On Friday night in a loss to the Queen's Gaels in Kingston, Atkinson was the best player on the floor for the Gryphons pouring in a team-high 16 points while also recording with 7 assists and 2 steals. The following day, the Gryphons won 75-56 at York University, thanks in large part to another impressive performance from their sophomore point guard. Against the Lions, Bridget finished with 14 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Atkinson, a member of Team Canada's U19 program, is the team's third-leading scorer on the season (10.2 PPG) and is a big reason why the Gryphons (7-6) currently hold a playoff position as they sit third in the OUA Central division standings. Bridget and company will hit the floor again this coming weekend when they make the short trip to Waterloo to face the Golden Hawks and Warriors on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 12 & 13).
