Rookie forward Claire Merrick had a weekend to remember helping the No. 1-ranked Gryphons Women's Hockey team pick up a pair of wins on the weekend. On Saturday (January 9), the Oakville, Ontario native picked up an assist by setting up Averi Nooren for the game-winning goal in overtime in a 1-0 victory over the York Lions. The next day, Merrick picked up another assist in the first period, before scoring the first goal of her OUA/CIS career in the third period in a 3-0 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks. After having recorded two points through her first 13 games of the season, Merrick racked up 3 points on the weekend (1 G, 2 A) helping the Gryphons remain in first place in the OUA standings at 12-2-1.
