The Gryphons women's hockey team will have the chance to win their eighth OUA title in program history, and first since the 2018-19 season, when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the 2026 McCaw Cup on Saturday. The Gryphons will host the stand-alone, single-game conference championship by having the better regular season record. Guelph swept their OUA semifinal series over the upstart Ontario Tech Ridgebacks with a pair of shutouts. The Gee-Gees meanwhile, got past the OUA's top-seeded Laurier Golden Hawks in their semifinal series thanks to an overtime-winning goal in Game 3 from Angélique Proulx. The Gryphons are led in goal by fifth-year standout
Martina Fedel who recently represented Italy at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Fedel is coming off back-to-back shutouts against the Ridgebacks and has not allowed a goal in nearly 10 periods of hockey.
Maeve Sutherland-Case leads the Gryphons with five playoff points while her teammates
Katherine Heard and Maddie Min both have 2 goals and 2 assists. Ottawa is led up front by their leading scorer in Gillian Warren. Warren in the regular season was 3rd in the OUA with 30 points and was tied for 2nd with 16 goals and that play has carried over into the postseason as she is tied for the postseason lead with 6 points alongside her teammate Alex Ferguson. Gee-Gees goalie Clara Genier was outstanding in her team's semifinal series win over the Golden Hawks where she stopped 47 out of 48 shots in Game 1 and making 45 saves in Game 3 to help her side advance to the McCaw Cup Championship game. Genier was great in the regular season for Ottawa where she boasted a 1.87 GAA and a .927 save percentage to go along with her 12 wins. For the Gee-Gees, they will play for their first OUA Championship in their second season in the OUA after moving back for the 2024-25 season. Both teams have already booked their place as the OUA representatives at the 2026 U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championships which will take place March 19-22 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario, with the University of Waterloo serving as the hosts of the national championship tournament for a second consecutive season.
