Briar Crerar (Women's Volleyball)
Briar Crerar vs Waterloo
Briar Crerar is this week's 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' as she continues to make her impact felt in the second half of the season. Crerar, a fourth-year left side with the Gryphons women's volleyball team, had a monster weekend in her team's sweep of the Waterloo Warriors, helping guide her side to the No. 5-seed in the OUA playoffs. On Friday night (Feb. 13), the psychology major in her team's 4-set victory had 17 total points, 15 kills while making only 3 errors in the match and 9 digs. The following night (Feb. 14), Crerar had one of her best performances of the season in her team's 5-set victory including securing the final two kills of the match. The Pickering, Ontario native finished with a season-high 23 points, 20 kills and 4 total blocks while collecting 11 digs as well. Crerar's return to the lineup in the second half of the season has propelled her side to an 8-game winning streak. In her 10 games played this season, Crerar has scored 122 total points, 109 kills and 89 digs. Crerar and the rest Gryphons women's volleyball team will travel to the ARC in Kingston to take on the No. 4-seeded Queen's Gaels in the quarterfinals of the Quigley Cup Playoffs.

Max Davies at OUA Track and Field Championship
Max Davies continues to set new heights as he earns this week's 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' honours. This is the second time this season Davies has been named 'Gryphon Athlete of the Week' after earning the honours during the cross country season. Davies, in his fourth season with the Gryphon track and field program, competed in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday (Feb. 14). The Toronto native ran a 3:53.24 mile with En Route cameras at 1500m clocking him at 3:37.27 to break his own school record. With his new record, Davies also enters the U SPORTS record book as this is the fastest time ever run by an athlete competing in U SPORTS and the 7th-fastest time ever run by a Canadian over this distance indoors. The management major is also the Canadian U23 record holder in the men's 1500m with a time of 3:33.86 and a Canadian National Champion in the men's 1500m, posting a time of 3:58.29 in Ottawa at the 2025 Canadian Track and Field Championships. Davies is a two-time University of Guelph Men's Athlete of the Year, the 2024 OUA Athlete of the Year (across all sports) and a seven-time U SPORTS gold medalist. Davies and the rest Gryphon Track and Field team head to Toronto for the 2026 OUA Track and Field Championships this weekend (Feb. 20-21).
