Megan Reid Departs as Head Coach of Gryphon Women’s Basketball

Guelph, Ont. (April 25, 2025) - After three seasons as head coach of the Gryphon women's basketball program Megan Reid and the University of Guelph have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.

Reid who completed her sixth year at Guelph this past season, steps away from the role of head coach that she has held since the 2022-2023 season.

With an overall regular season record of 47-19, losing in the second round of the playoffs in each of her three seasons as head coach, she served as the full-time assistant coach for the Gryphons under the mentorship of Mark Walton from 2019-2021 before eventually stepping into the head coaching role.

"We are thankful for Coach Reid's contributions over the past three years to our women's basketball program," said University of Guelph, Director of Athletics, Scott McRoberts. "Her commitment to both the academic and athletic growth of our student-athletes has been truly valued."

A national search for the program's next head coach will be conducted immediately.
