PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons men's lacrosse team saw their 2023 season officially come to an end on Friday night (Nov. 3) in Peterborough in the quarterfinals of the Baggataway Cup national championship tournament. The McGill Redbirds scored two late goals to edge the Gryphons 9-8 in a tightly-contested, back-and-forth national quarterfinal matchup. With the game tied at 7-7 in the 4th quarter, Gryphons second-year attack, Liam Aston, gave Guelph the lead. But it would not last, with McGill answering back with two of their own to advance to the Baggataway Cup semifinals. Helping lead the way for the Gryphons in the loss on Friday night was CUFLA West All-Canadian, Robbie Baxter, who recorded a first half hat trick to help get the Gryphons off to a strong start.
 
McGill will now face the Carleton Ravens on Saturday afternoon (1:30pm) in the semifinals of the 2023 Baggataway Cup.
