GUELPH, Ont. – On Saturday afternoon (Oct. 8) at the University of Guelph's Rugby Field, the Gryphons men's rugby team took on the McMaster Marauders in just their second home game of the season. The defending OUA champion Gryphons walked away with a dominant 62-14 win to improve to 4-0 on the season. After the Marauders opened the scoring with a penalty kick, the Gryphs would take over, outscoring their opponent 24-6 while holding them out of the try zone before time expired in the first half. The Gryphons would open the second half with a quick score from
Owen Stirling before finding the try one 4 more times in 11-minutes to build a 57-9 lead midway through the period. McMaster would eventually score a try in the 72
nd minute before the Gryphons would effectively end the game with a try from
Nathan Cousseau-Dupin, the Toronto native's second score of the game. The Gryphon win was led by fullback,
Kobe Faust (3 converts), and centre
Tomas Dallan (2 tries, 1 convert), who accounted for 18 of the Gryphons 62 points. The Gryphons (4-0) will look to improve to 5-0 next Saturday (Oct. 15) when the Queen's Gaels (3-0) visit Guelph for a rematch of the 2021 OUA Championship in a match set for 3pm.
