LONDON, Ont. - The reigning national champions and five-time defending OUA champion Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team kicked off their title defence on Sunday afternoon (Sept. 13) from Western Alumni Field in London, ON. The Gryphons picked up the 57-28 road win over the Mustangs in the season-opening matchup for both teams. The Gryphons controlled play in the first half, building up their lead to lead 31-14 at the break en route to their first win of the new OUA season. Malin Hazl (Guelph, ON) led the team in the win, scoring 17 points and earning 'Man of the Match' honours while Josh Henry (Uxbridge, ON) scored three tries. 

The Gryphons (1-0) will now prepare for a marquee matchup in their home opener on Saturday (Sept. 19) with the Queen's Gaels set to visit U of G for a 3:30pm matchup at Varsity Field.
