KINGSTON, ON - Sunday morning in Kingston, the Gryphons field hockey team improved to 7-0-1 on the season with a 8-0 victory over the McGill Marlets (0-6).
One day after playing to a 2-2 tie against York, the Gryphons came out flying on Sunday with rookie
Alexa Corrado (Waterloo, ON) opening the scoring 6 minutes into the match. For Corrado, it was her first goal at the OUA level and was the start of a big day for the Gryphons offence.
Guelph built up a 4-0 lead at half and would add four more in the second half to cruise to the 8-0 victory. The eight goals scored were a season-high in what was also the largest margin of victory this season for U of G.
Katherine MacMillan and
Olivia Lane each finished with two goals apiece, while
Rudi Ballard,
Ciara Condon and
Olivia Finch also got their names on the score sheet.
The Gryphons sit in 1st place in the OUA standings with four games remaining in the regular season schedule.
