Hamilton, ON - The University of Guelph Women's Volleyball team moved into the final of the McMaster Thanksgiving Classic preseason tournament with a solid 3-0 win over the Ryerson Rams Friday afternoon. Set scores were 25-20, 25-22 & 25-14. The Gryphons got a consistent performance in almost every facet of the game and were able to limit the Ryerson offence with timely blocking and a stubborn defence that produced some spectacular saves throughout the match.

Coach Funk stated, "We defended very well against their big middle and left sides and I thought we won the serve and receive battle in each set. It was definitely our best effort of the pre-season." Victoria Golebiowski led the Guelph offense with 7 kills followed by Jessica Gormley and Maddie DeDecker with 6 each. Three Gryphons had double digit dig totals; Kristen Almhjell with 14, Victoria Golebiowski with 13 and Becky Breau with 11. Guelph will close out the tournament tomorrow against either McMaster or Western with the final starting at 12:30pm.
