KINGSTON, Ont. – The Gryphons women's volleyball team officially saw their 2025-26 season come to an end on Friday (Feb. 20) at Queen's University in Kingston. The No. 5-seeded Gryphons fell in straight sets to the No. 4-seeded Queen's Gaels, with set scores of 25-11, 25-17 & 25-14.
The Gryphons entered Friday night's OUA playoff matchup as one of the hottest teams in the conference with the Gryphons riding an eight-game winning streak. Unfortunately for the Gryphons, they were unable to carry that momentum into Kingston, with the host Gaels getting off to a quick start and never looking back en route to the straight sets win. It marked a third straight head-to-head victory over Guelph for Queen's, with the Gaels beating Guelph on back-to-back nights back on Jan. 9 and 10 in Kingston. The Gaels had three players score in double figures on Friday night, led by third-year outside hitter Claire Carter (17 points, 17 kills). For the Gryphons, standout sophomore
Ainsley Preszcator led all Guelph scorers with 8.5 points (8 kills, 3 digs). With the win, the Queen's Gaels advance to the OUA semifinals where they will face top-seeded Brock Badgers on Friday, Feb. 27. For the Gryphons, it ends an impressive 2025-26 season, with first-year head coach
Natasha Spaling leading the Gryphons to a 14-6 record during the regular season and the No. 5-seed in the conference.
