Guelph, ON – Sunday afternoon (Oct. 4) at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre, the Gryphons Women's Basketball team opened up their preseason schedule with an 86-71 win over the visiting Memorial Sea-Hawks. Barbara Inrig-Pieterse led the Gryphons with 14 points, Vanessa Rampado pulled down 14 rebounds, and Kate MacTavish was her usual 'double-double' self, finishing the game with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The game also served as an opportunity for the Gryphon rookies to test themselves against CIS talent. In fact, at one point in the 4th quarter, all five Gryphon rookies (Ivana Vujadinovic, Julia Kokonis, Sarah Holmes, Abbey Clark and Ashley Wheeler) were on the floor together gaining valuable experience at the CIS level.
 
The Gryphons Women's Basketball team will now head West for a three-day preseason tournament (Oct. 8-10) in Regina where they will face the Regina Cougars, Saskatchewan Huskies and the University of the Fraser Valley Cascades.
