Guelph, ON- Thursday evening (Oct 22) at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team won their preseason matchup against Bishop's Gaiters 65-46.
After a slow start for both teams, the Gryphons managed to get an eight point lead by the end of the first quarter and a 10-2 run to the start the second quarter extended their lead to 17 points at half. Three different players each had six points when the whistle blew for half time, a reflection of the Gryphons impressive ball movement and unselfish play.
Kate MacTavish separated herself from the crowd in the second half and once again, had a double-double game. MacTavish led the game with 20 points, 4-4 from the free throw line and also pulled in a game-high 12 rebounds. Discipline was a deciding factor, with the Gaiters giving up 24 free throws and the Gryphons only eight. Off the bench,
Quincy Sickles-Jarvis had eight points and six rebounds in only 11 minutes.
Gryphon rookies made an impact as well.

Ivana Vujadinovic all played over 10 minutes, Wheeler scored four points with her only minute of playing time and
Julia Konokis knocked down the Gryphons' only three-pointer.
The Gryphons will wrap up their preseason schedule on Saturday at 5 pm when they host the Queen's Gaels.
