Guelph, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons women's volleyball team hosts the Lakehead Thunderwolves for an OUA quarter-final showdown in Guelph on Saturday, February 15 at 6:00 p.m.

Guelph finished the regular season at 14-5, good for first in the OUA West division. The Thunderwolves were fourth in the West with a 6-13 record. During the regular season the Gryphons defeated the Thunderwolves on homecourt with scores of 3-1 and 2-1.
First-year left side hitter Maddie DeDecker (Dorchester, Ont.) led the Gryphons with 3.07 kills per set while Rachel Petcoff (London, Ont.) contributed 2.0 kills per set and a team leading 34 serving aces, good for fourth in the OUA. Second-year libero Kristen Almhjell (Richmond, BC) led the defence this season and ranks third in the OUA with 305 total digs (3.63 digs per set).
For the Thunderwolves, fourth-year Breanne Hilhorst leads their defence. She finished the year ranked second in the OUA in digs per set with 4.10 on the year. Jorie Daymond and Jasmine Fox led the Thunderwolves with 3.20 and 2.72 points per set this season. Look for the Gryphons to try and disrupt the rhythm of these two players early on. During the regular season Daymond tallied a total of 35 points against the Gryphons including 28 kills in two games.
The winner of this quarter-final will advance to the OUA Final Four. This year's final four will be hosted by the top East division team following the completion of the OUA quarter-finals. The host school will be one of Toronto, York or Ottawa.
