North Bay, Ont. – The Gryphon men's volleyball team defeated the Nipissing Lakers 3-1 on Saturday night in North Bay. The Gryphons finish the opening weekend of the 2013 season with a 1-1 record. Set scores were 24-13, 22-25, 25-23, 25-21.
 
Decimated by injuries the young Gryphon squad pulled out a gutsy win. During the match the injury bug bit us once again this time losing All Canadian Tim Warnholtz. In his absence the team stepped it up with other players contributing. Jordan MacIntyre had 11 kills on 13 attempts with 3 aces. Raf Leite had 8 kills and 3 aces and 5 blocks.

The Gryphons will open their 2013 at home Friday (Oct. 25) as they host the Queen's Gaels at 8:00 p.m.
