Feb. 9: Laurier 70 – Guelph 53 GUELPH – With Megan Grant and Christa Mancino leading the way, the Laurier Golden Hawks were able to use their noticeable size advantage to drop the Gryphons 70-53 Wednesday night at the W.F. Mitchell Centre. With the loss, the Gryphons drop to 8-11, while the Hawks advance to 12-6.
Guelph just couldn't overcome the size of the Golden Hawks, who feature a number of six footers. Samantha Russell and Jasmine Douglas both struggled with foul trouble throughout the night, as the Gryphon's were outrebounded by 15, giving up 17 offensive rebounds.
The Gryphon's were led by Ali Dzikowski's 12 points, as she went 3-5 from three-point range. Chelsea Kane and Russell both added 11 in the loss.
