The Guelph Gryphon men's volleyball team won a close 3-1 battle with the York Lions on Saturday afternoon to complete a two-game winning weekend in Toronto. The Gryphons advance to 3-1 while the Lions drop to 2-3. Set scores were (30-28, 22-25, 25-13, 25-19).
The two teams battled it out from the get-go, with neither team gaining a substantial lead, however it was the Gryphons who came through victorious. The Gryphons dominated the Lions in service aces 11-2, led largely by Ryan Killeen (Oakville, Ont.) who finished with a game-high 19 points (13 kills, 6 aces). Andrew Whitaker (Sharon, Ont.) and Winston Rosser (Whitby, Ont.) tallied 14 and 13 kills respectively. Whitaker was also outstanding defensively tallying a team- high 11 digs.
The Gryphons are home again next weekend when they will host the Queen's Gaels and the RMC Paladins on Friday and Saturday night respectively. Game time for both is 8:00 p.m.
