Gryphs Off to 2-0 Start on Season


 Saturday morning, the Gryphons kicked off the season with a scoring flurry thumping Waterloo 9-1 in London.  

It took 10 minutes of play before the Gryphs hit the scoreboard as Brienne Stairs (Kitchener, ON) scored Guelph's first marker of the season assisted by Tegan Stairs (Kitchener, ON). At the intermission, the Gryphs led by a score of 3-1. In the second half, the red, black and gold added another 6.  Seven different players figured into the scoring including 2 goals apiece for the Stairs duo as well as Kate Dellandrea (Rockwood, ON). Rookie Alexis Wagner (Guelph, ON), Lauren Goodmanson (Victoria, BC), Brittany Seidler (Oliver, BC) added singles. Dorothy Marcy (Oliver, BC) backstopped the Gryphons. A few hours later, the Gryphs managed to crash the Queen's net 10 times to blank the Golden Gaels 10-0. Brienne Stairs recorded a hat trick while Seidler and rookies, Amanda Anderson (Delta, BC) and Erica Baxter (Kitchener, ON) added 2 each. Rookie Liz Lutz (Oliver, BC) netted a single. Rookie Alex Bland (Vancouver, BC) cheered on her team from the Gryphon cage.

Guelph is pitted against the Western Mustangs at 10:00 am Sunday.
