Following Judy McCaw's tragic passing, the trophy was named after her in 1972. A full list of past champions in OUA women's hockey, dating back to 1972, can be found at www.oua.ca.

2025-26 Season Summary – Guelph Gryphons Women's Hockey
The Guelph Gryphons women's hockey team were one of the top two teams in Ontario throughout the 2025-26 regular season, with only the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks finishing the regular season with more points (Laurier 60 points, Guelph 57 points). Guelph was ranked in the U SPORTS Top 10 each week of the season, reaching as high as No. 3 during the October 20 rankings. Standout fifth-year goalie, and former U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian (2023-24), Martina Fedel, represented Italy at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games, and recently returned from the Olympics to re-join the Gryphons. Guelph entered the playoffs as the No. 2-seed in the OUA West Division, and drew the No. 3-seeded Waterloo Warriors in their opening round, best-of-three series. The Gryphons won in triple overtime in a decisive Game 3 versus Waterloo in their OUA quarterfinal series, and proceeded to sweep the upstart Ontario Tech Ridgebacks in the OUA semifinals. With the series win over Ontario Tech, the Gryphons not only booked a spot in the McCaw Cup, but also clinched a spot at nationals, marking Guelph's first trip back to the national stage since the 2018-19 season when they won their first and only national title in women's hockey. The 2026 U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championships will take place March 19-22 at the Woolwich Memorial Centre in Elmira, Ontario, with the University of Waterloo serving as the hosts of the national championship tournament for a second consecutive season.

2025-26 Season Summary – Ottawa Gee-Gees Women's Hockey
The Ottawa Gee-Gees women's hockey team finished the 2025-26 regular season as the No. 2-seed in the OUA East Division with a record of 15-8-3. In the opening round of playoffs, the Gee-Gees defeated the No. 3-seeded University of Toronto Varsity Blues, and then proceeded to take down the OUA's top overall seed, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks, in the OUA semifinals. Both of Ottawa's playoff series wins went the distance, with each best-of-three series requiring a Game 3. Now, the Gee-Gees will set their sights on their first OUA title in program history. In women's hockey, Ottawa has competed in the RSEQ/QSSF for 21 of its 22 varsity seasons, having played one season in the OUA back in 2000-01 (winning OUA bronze). The Gee-Gees women's hockey program moved back to the OUA for the 2024-25 season, and now in just their second season back in the OUA, will play for the McCaw Cup. At the national level, the Gee-Gees have attended four U SPORTS championships, winning silver in 2004. By earning a spot in the OUA title game, the Gee-Gees also earned an automatic berth to the 2026 U SPORTS Women's Hockey Championships and will return to the national stage next week (March 19-22) as one of eight teams in the field at the national championship tournament in Elmira, Ontario.
