Men's Rugby: No. 1

This marks the fifth consecutive week that the Gryphons men's rugby team is at No. 1 in the latest edition of the National Top 10 Coaches' Choice rankings. The reigning national champions defeated Laurier 71-19 on Friday night (Oct. 9) to remain undefeated with a 5-0 regular season record. Jackson Priestman led the team in the win with three tries on the night. The Gryphons close out their regular season on Sunday (Oct. 18) when they take on the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton as a win would lock up the top overall seed in the OUA and secure homefield advantage in the OUA playoffs.

Women's Rugby: No. 2

The Gryphons women's rugby team is at No. 2 in the final U SPORTS Top 10 rankings of the season. The Gryphons capped off an undefeated 6-0 regular season following their 118-0 shutout of York on Friday night (Oct. 9). Abigail Turner helped lead the way for her side, scoring a hat trick of tries. The Gryphons finish the 2026 regular season with a perfect 6-0 record, clinching the top overall seed in the OUA Playoffs. The Gryphons are on a bye this week and will return to action on Friday, Oct. 23 when they host an OUA semifinal from Varsity Field.
