TORONTO, Ont. – On Tuesday, September 30, 2025 the U SPORTS office released its latest national rankings for the 2025-26 season. Four Gryphon varsity teams were represented in the latest polls. The Gryphons women's rugby team, for a second straight week, moved up a spot in the polls and now sit at No. 5. While Gryphons men's cross country No. 6), women's soccer (No. 8) and women's cross country (No. 8) all remain in the national Top 10. Women's Rugby – No. 5
For the second straight week, the Gryphons women's rugby team moves up a spot to No. 5 in the latest national rankings. The Gryphs defeated the Toronto Varsity Blues 137-0 in their final regular season home game on Saturday afternoon (Sept. 27). Thirteen Gryphons recorded a try in their win, led by Addy Holmes' 4 tries
Milla Sayavongsa's 3 tries. The Gryphons (4-1) wrap up their regular season on Saturday (Oct. 4) when they travel to London to take on the No. 6-ranked Western Mustangs, also with a 4-1 record.
Cross Country | Men No. 6, Women No. 8
Despite a strong showing at the Don Mills Open on Saturday (Sept. 27), both cross country teams slip in the rankings with the men's team at No. 6 and the women's team at No. 8. Both the men's and women's team topped the team standings in Waterloo over the weekend. The men team was led by
Charlie Shaw's 3
rd place finish while
Luke Feltham,
Nolan Buie,
Willem De Gooyer and
Kebron Seyoum all placed in the top 10 for the Gryphons.
Leah Stapleton led the way on the women's side with her 5
th place finish to go along with top 10 finishes from
Michelle Gray and
Anna May. The Gryphons cross country teams are off this week before heading to Hamilton for the Marauder BayFront Open on Friday, October 10.
Women's Soccer – No. 8
The women's soccer team dropped a spot to No. 8 in the latest U SPORTS Top 10. The Gryphons rebounded nicely following their first defeat of the season to York on Monday (Sept. 22), sweeping both legs of the home-and-home against the Waterloo Warriors. Three first half goals, including two goals from
Olivia Rizakos powered the Gryphs to a 4-1 home win on Friday night (Sept. 26). On Sunday afternoon (Sept. 28), Guelph found the net five times included a pair of goals from
Olivia Brown and
Olivia Rizakos in their 5-2 win in Waterloo. The Gryphons sit in a tie for top spot in the OUA West division as they're set for a top of a division home-and-home clash with the Western Mustangs this weekend. Guelph will host the first matchup on Friday night (Oct. 3) before making the trip to London on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 5).
