GUELPH, Ont. – Wednesday night (Feb. 5, 2025) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team fell, 63-52, to the visiting Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. With the loss, the Gryphons fall to 13-6 on the season, while Laurier improves to 9-10. The Golden Hawks were led by third-year forward Kate White who had a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds. The Hawks out-rebounded Guelph 49-38 on the night.
The Gryphons (13-6) were led by third-year guard,
Hannah Bourdon (Fort Erie, ON) who scored a team-high 18 points. But the Gryphons were unable to find a rhythm on offence, shooting 25% as a team from the field while going 5-30 from beyond the arc. Despite the loss, the Gryphons remain in good position to fight for home court advantage in the opening round of OUA women's basketball playoffs, with three games now remaining in the 2024-25 OUA regular season schedule.
All three of Guelph's remaining regular season games will come on the road, beginning with a short trip to Waterloo on Saturday, February 8 to face the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks in the second half a back-to-back with the Hawks. Tip is set for 1pm at Laurier's Athletic Complex and can be seen live online at
www.oua.tv. The Gryphons will then close out the regular season schedule on February 14 and 15 with road games in Sault Ste. Marie against the last-place Algoma Thunderbirds (1-17). The opening round of playoffs in OUA women's basketball is set for Wednesday, February 19.
