Alexandra McDougall (Women's Cross Country)

For the second time this season, Alexandra McDougall (Gryphons women's cross country) has been named 'Athlete of the Week'. McDougall continued her terrific 2025 cross country season in Kingston, winning the individual gold medal in women's 8 km race at the 2025 OUA Cross Country Championships on Saturday (Oct. 25). The fourth-year biomedical engineering major was dominant from start to finish as she finished with a time of 26:50.5, which was :48 seconds ahead of her next closest racer as she was the first person to cross out of 94 racers to claim the women's individual championship. For the Port Perry, ON native, it marked her third win of the season as she earned wins at the Vigars and Salter Western Invitational and Marauder BayFront Open. The Gryphons women's cross country team narrowly missed out on a podium finish, coming in 4th-place in the overall team standings.

Max Davies (Men's Cross Country)

Max Davies has been named 'Athlete of the Week' following his silver medal performance at the 2025 OUA Cross Country Championships in Kingston. The two-time University of Guelph Athlete of the Year had another fantastic showing in the men's 8 km race at the provincial championships on Saturday (Oct. 25), helping lead the Gryphons to a silver medal in the team standings. The fourth-year management major was the second runner to cross the line, followed by his teammate Jack Lehto to give Guelph a No. 2 and No. 3 finish in the field of 107 racers. For the Toronto native, it marks the third straight year in which he has come in 2nd-place at the OUA Cross Country Championships, after claiming the silver medal in 2023 and 2024. The Gryphons men's cross country team had another strong showing in Kingston as they had three runners place in the top 10 to finish 2nd in the team standings. Davies, McDougall and the rest of the Gryphons cross country team will now head east to race in their final event of the season in two weeks (Nov. 8) when they compete in the 2025 U SPORTS Cross Country Championships in Sherbrooke, QC, hosted by the University of Sherbrooke.
