The Wayne Allison Tournament took place in Brampton, Ontario from December 29-30 on the campus Sheridan College at the Davis Campus Gymnasium, where the Gryphons were one of four schools squaring off in a bracket style exhibition tournament.

The Gryphons opened up their tournament with a 96-85 victory over the host Sheridan Bruins on Sunday (Dec. 29). Four Gryphon players finished in double digits led by Amare Hamilton's 17 points on 7-10 shooting from the field to go along with his 5 assists in the win. Guelph matched up with a fellow OUA conference member in the Nipissing Lakers in the final on Monday (Dec. 30), where Guelph outscored the Lakers 23-10 in a 2nd quarter surge, leading the Gryphs to an 89-82 win in the championship game. Eric Armstrong had himself a championship game, scoring a game-high 23 points on 10-13 shooting from the field as the Gryphons captured the Wayne Allison Tournament title for a second consecutive year.
