GUELPH, Ont. – Friday night (Jan. 31, 2025) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Windsor Lancers defeated the Guelph Gryphons, 77-73, in a marquee matchup in OUA women's basketball. The Gryphons, ranked No. 10 in the latest national polls, started strong and took a 10-point lead into halftime. But the visiting Lancers would escape Guelph with the win, thanks in large part to a dominant 3rd quarter in which Windsor outscored Guelph 25-10. With the win, the Lancers improve to 14-4 on the season and move into top spot in the OUA West Division, while the Gryphons fall to 13-5 on the season.

Friday night's matchup in Guelph also marked 'Senior Night' for the Gryphons, with a quartet of graduating seniors honoured after the game (
Alexandra Urban,
Lucy Tesseyman,
Julia Colavecchia and
Renee Armstrong). The seniors led the way for the Gryphons on the night, with
Julia Colavecchia scoring a team-high 18 points (7-15 shooting), followed by
Renee Armstrong (17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals) and
Lucy Tesseyman (16 points, 8-9 shooting).
The Gryphons (13-5) have four games remaining in their 2024-25 OUA regular season schedule, with the team returning to home court in the next game (Wednesday, Feb. 5) when the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-9) visit Guelph. The Gryphons will then close out the season at Laurier (Feb. 8) and at Algoma (Feb. 14 & 15).
