GUELPH, Ont. - On Saturday (Sept. 16) afternoon the U SPORTS No. 4-ranked Guelph Gryphons women's rugby team put on their best performance of the season, rolling to a dominant 110-0 victory over the U of T Varsity Blues. The match, which served as the 2023 ediditon of the Gryphon Rugby Day, saw the U of G offence put the most points to date this season, while their defensive game plan was unstoppable,

holding the Varsity Blues to no points.
The Gryphons found the end zone a total of 18 times with a season-high twelve student-athletes accounting for scores. It did not take long to get the offence rolling with
Lara Jorgensen scoring the game's first points just three minutes in. The team would end the half with a 60-0 lead before scoring 50 points in the second half. U SPORTS All-Canadian talent

Karenna Ottywill found the end zone on two separate occasions along with third-year back row Abby Auger, second year scrum half
Halle Woodcock, and third-year centre Maddy Ryan who also had a pair of scores.

Gerry Atkins all also contributed with tries on the day. In the kicking game
Grace Jacklyn led the way, splitting the uprights eight times to account for 16 Gryphon points.
Karenna Ottywill and
Tausani Levale also kicked successful converts.
The Gryphons (3-0) will now head to Kingston on Saturday, September 23 for their annual matchup with their OUA rival, the Queen's Gaels (3-0). The Gryphons and Gaels have had an intense rivalry of recent memory, meeting in the OUA finals in each of the past five seasons of on-field action. The match will surely go a long way for either team in securing home-field advantage throughout the postseason.
