VANCOUVER, BC – The Guelph Gryphons women's rugby defeated the StFX X-Women, 45-21, on Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 29, 2025) in a quarterfinal matchup at the 2025 CGIS U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championship, presented by The Rec Room Granville. With the win, the Gryphons advance to the national semifinals on Friday night (Oct. 31) where they will face the University of Victoria Vikes.
The Gryphons, who earned a spot at nationals thanks to their OUA silver medal finish, got off to a flying start against the Atlantic champions from StFX. Guelph jumped out to a commanding 26-0 lead at halftime, with

Grace Jacklyn and Addy Holmes all contributing with tries in the dominant opening 35 minutes of play.
The 2025 U SPORTS Women's Rugby Championships are being hosted in Vancouver by UBC, with the Gryphons seeking the third national title in program history (1998, 2011). The Gryphons will now face the No. 1 overall seed in the eight-team tournament in the UVic Vikes, champions of the Canada West conference. UVic, undefeated on the year, beat the Ottawa Gee-Gees, 41-8, in their U SPORTS quarterfinal matchup.
