WBB RECAP: Gryphons Improve to 3-2 with 59-41 Win Over Algoma

GUELPH, Ont. - Friday night (Nov. 17) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team improved to 3-2 on the season thanks to a 59-41 victory over the Algoma Thunderbirds (0-4). Third-year guard, Julia Colavecchia, was the lone Gryphon to score in double figures on the night, with the Niagara Falls native scoring a team-high 13 points. The Gryphons did most of their damage at the free throw line, with Guelph earning 35 trips to the charity stripe (22-of-35 on free throws), while also outrebounding the Thunderbirds by a 42-to-29 margin. Gryphons third-year forward, Lucy Tesseyman, recorded a team-high 11 rebounds, 9 of which came on the offensive glass.

It marked the second straight win for the Gryphons (3-2), who entered Friday night's game fresh off a road win over the Waterloo Warriors back on Nov. 11. The Gryphons will look to make it three straight wins and push their record to 4-2 on the season as they get set to host the Algoma Thunderbirds once again on Saturday afternoon, with game time set to tip at 2pm on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 18) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre.
