WLAX RECAP: Gryphons Fall to Western in Bronze Medal Game, Finish 4th at 2022 OUA's

TORONTO, Ont. - For a second consecutive season, the Guelph Gryphons women's lacrosse team has come up just short of reaching the podium at the OUA Championships. On Sunday afternoon at the University of Toronto, the Gryphons fell 11-5 to the Western Mustangs in the bronze medal game at the 2022 OUA Women's Lacrosse Championships. Trailing 6-2 after one, the Gryphons fought back with a pair of second quarter goals from Guelph's Payton Curtis to bridge the gap, but Western would score the next three to take a 9-4 lead into halftime. A low-scoring second half saw Western outscore Guelph 2-1 to secure the 11-5 victory, with OUA All-Star Rachel McConvey scoring the Gryphons lone goal of the second half.

The 2022 OUA women's lacrosse title would be captured by the Queen's Gaels, who defeated the two-time defending champion Trent Excalibur in the gold medal game to lift the Patterson Cup.
