NORTH BAY, ON – Friday night at Nipissing University in North Bay, the Gryphons women's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season portion of their schedule with a 3-1 loss to the Nipissing Lakers. Set scores were 22-25, 16-25, 25-22 & 22-25. With the loss, the Gryphons finish the season with a 9-10 record, good for fourth place in the OUA West division.
 
Becky Breau and Leslie Ogilvie led the way for the Gryphons on Friday night, each finishing with 11 kills. Kristen Almhjell had 22 digs for the Gryphons, while first year middle Elizabeth Donevan racked up 5 block assists.
 
Although the Gryphons have locked up a playoff spot as one of the top four teams in their division, they are still waiting to see whether their first round opponent will be Western or McMaster. Both the Mustangs and Marauders are tied for top spot with 30 points each. Both teams are in action Saturday night (McMaster at Nipissing, Western at Ryerson). Should both teams win Saturday night, Western would take top spot on points for and against and would then host Guelph in the opening round of the playoffs.
