ST. CATHARINES, ON - The University of Guelph women's volleyball team defeated the Brock Badgers 3-1 Saturday afternoon in St. Catharine's. Set scores were 25-15, 22-25, 25-13 & 25-22. The Gryphons continued their troubling habit of starting slow in the first set as they fell behind 8-4 early on. However, numerous Brock errors allowed Guelph to go on a 16-4 run and win the set 25-15. Set 2 was close early on but the Gryphons led 16-12 at the technical timeout. Guelph lost focus down the stretch and allowed Brock a 10-0 run to finish the set falling 25-22. The third set started with Guelph out to an early 8-3 lead and they won going away at 25-13. Set 4 saw another poor start for the Gryphons as they trailed 11-8 & 16-14 at the timeout. Later, Guelph tied the set at 19 and forged ahead down the stretch to win 25-22.

Coach Paul Funk said, "It was exactly the type of match that we had talked about in pre-game with Brock having stretches of good play followed by stretches of errors. Our goal was to stay consistent throughout but we only managed to do that about half the time. I thought
Leslie Ogilvie did a good job in a relief role today."
Meghan Morelli led the Guelph offense with 12 points (11 kills, 1 block) followed by
Nicole Collard with 11 (10 kills, 1 block) while
Kristen Almhjell had 19 digs to lead the defense. The Gryphons will play their last regular season match next Friday on the road when the take on the Nipissing Lakers at 6pm.
