LONDON, ON - The University of Guelph women's volleyball team was defeated 3-0 by the Western Mustangs Friday night in London. Set scores were 16-25, 16-25 & 21-25.
The first set was close early on but a 6-0 Western run before the technical timeout allowed them to control the set and win 25-16. In set 2, Guelph fell behind by 5 early in the set and never got closer falling 25-16. The Gryphons trailed 17-10 in the third set when they played their best volleyball of the night to get to within 2 points. However, Western was able to recover and close out the match at 25-21.

Paul Funk stated, "We didn't perform well in the first 2 sets tonight which is a big concern for us. Our group and individual compete level has to improve if we are going to have success."
Maddie DeDecker led the Guelph offence with 10 points (10 kills) followed by
Victoria Golebiowski with 6 (6 kills) while
Kayla McMullen contributed 11 digs defensively. The Gryphons' road weekend continues tomorrow afternoon in Windsor when they take on the Lancers at 2pm.
