GUELPH, ON – Saturday afternoon at Varsity Field, the Gryphon women's rugby team advanced in the OUA playoffs with a 132-0 victory over the visiting Waterloo Warriors. The Gryphons will now advance to the OUA semi-finals, stay tuned to gryphons.ca for full playoff details.
It was an offensive outburst that saw a balanced scoring attack featuring 14 Gryphons that each got on the scoresheet. Alexandra King led the team with three tries and four converts while Taylor Durham also scored a trio of tires. Kylie Shaughnessy, Julia Schell, Stephanie Lapointe and Amara Hill all chipped in scoring a pair of tries each.
The Gryphons will next host the Queen's Gaels in an OUA semi-final on Saturday, October 22 at 1:00 p.m. on Varsity Field. The Gaels earned their way into the semi final by way of defeating the York Lions 60-7. Earlier this season the Gryphons defeated the Gaels 50-5 in the regular season.
