PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Gryphons WRGBY Host Waterloo Saturday in OUA Quarterfinal

GUELPH, ON - During the regular season the Gryphons women's rugby team was, in a word, dominant. After boasting a perfect 5-0 record while outscoring opponents 503 to 12. Now the focus shifts to the playoffs where the Gryphons will look to capture their first OUA title since 2012.

The opponent for Saturday's OUA Quarterfinal, which is set to kickoff at 1pm on Varsity Field, is the Waterloo Warriors. The Warriors finished 4th in the Shiels Division after posting a 2-3 record and now return to Varsity Field for the second time in eight days after suffering a 106-0 defeat at the hands of the Gryphons on October 7th.

Gryphons second year fly-half, Julia Schell, led the OUA in scoring with 76 points during the regular season. Her 12 tries were tied for the most in the OUA. Kendra Blackbourn's consistent kicking saw her lead the league in converts with 22, while senior Alexandra King showcasd her athleticism by recording 6 tries and 10 converts.

Should the Gryphons once again take care of business against the Warriors this Saturday, they will play host to an OUA Semifinal game on Saturday, October 22nd.

The CIS Women's Rugby Championships are being hosted by the University of Victoria and taking place November 3rd to 6th.
