WHKY: Gryphons win in shootout over Windsor

Box Score
Windsor, Ont.  – Two of the top four teams in the OUA met up Friday night as the Gryphon women's hockey team travelled to Windsor to take on the Lancers.   The Gryphons would pull out a 4-3 win in a shootout to improve to 7-1-2 on the season.  With the loss, the Lancers fall to 7-2-2.

Trailing 3-1 in the third period, the Gryphons would get goals from fourth year defenceman Leigh Shilton (Belleville, Ont.) and rookie winger Kaitlin Lowy (Toronto, Ont.) to tie things at 3-3.  Overtime would solve nothing so a shootout was needed in Windsor.  The only goal of the shootout came from Guelph's all-star forward Jessica Pinkerton (Oshawa, Ont.) to give the Gryphons a 4-3 win.

Gryphons goalie Stephanie Nehring (Oshawa, Ont.) made 32 saves on the night, including some big stops in the shootout.  The Gryphons will now ride the bus back up the 401 for a matchup with the first-place Western Mustangs on Saturday night.  Puck drops at 7pm at Thompson Arena in London.
