MHKY: Gryphons lose 3-2 in second OT versus Queen’s

Box Score
Kingston, Ont. – The Gryphon men's hockey team lost 3-2 in the second overtime in Kingston Friday night.  The Gryphons now sit on 2-3-2 on the season while Queen's improves to 3-1.  A two goal first period had the Gryphons off to a good start against the Gaels.  Less than a minute into the game, rookie Andres Kopstals (Toronto, Ont.) scored his third of the season to give Guelph a 1-0 lead.  After Queen's tied things up, the Gryphons would re-take the lead on a goal from Carlos Amestoy (Toronto, Ont.), his second of the campaign.  But after a good start to the night, goals would be hard to come by the rest of the way.  Queen's would tie things up in the second period.  A scoreless third period sent things to overtime tied at 2-2.  The Gaels would score the winner 58 seconds into the second overtime period.  Despite the loss, it was a strong performance for Gryphons goalie Keith Hamilton (Kelowna, B.C.) who made 42 saves on the night.

The Gryphons will hit the ice again Saturday night in Oshawa when they take on UOIT.
