Â
Guelph, Ont. - Guelph played a rare night game under the lights at home on Wednesday and defeated the Western Mustangs 2-1.
Â
Once again, the Gryphons dominated the play but the first goal did not materialize until the red, black and gold were awarded a penalty corner with no time on the clock at the half.Â
Erin Houle nailed the ball at the Western cage andÂ
Jessica Donaldson picked up the rebound off a Western defender's stick to put it away for a 1-0 lead.
Â
Nine minutes after the break,Â
Allison Chute who recently returned to action, set up rookieÂ
Nicole Paola for a 2-0 margin. Unfortunately, the Gryphs had a few breakdowns in the second half and allowed the Mustangs to narrow the gap. Guelph had 11 penalty corners to Western's 3. End result was 2-1 in Guelph's favour.
Â
The Gryphons improve their record to 8-1-2 with 26 points.
Â
Guelph's final game of the season is Sunday against Waterloo at Western. Game time is 3:15 pm.
