Windsor led the game the bulk of the way, outscoring the Gryphons in each quarter, but Guelph battled despite their poor shooting to close the gap to one with just over two minutes left. Windsors Josh Collins (Toronto) quickly answered with a big three with time running out on the shot clock to put the Lancers up for good.
Leading the Gryphons in scoring once again was
Kareem Malcolm (Brampton, Ont.) with 21 points including three three-pointers. The only other Gryphon with double figure scoring was
Adam Bering (Windsor, Ont.) with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Poor shooting hindered the Gryphons as Windsor shot 48.9 percent from the field on 23-for-47 while Guelph shot 37.3 percent from the field on 22-for-59. A positive in the game for the Gryphons was their rebounding, getting to the glass efficiently and out-rebounding the Lancers 35-30.
The Gryphons will travel to London to take on the Mustangs Wednesday, January 11 at 8:00 p.m.
