Box Score
The Gryphon men's basketball team added another 'W' to the win column tonight (Dec. 3) with a 77-62 victory over the Lions.
The Gryphons advance to 5-3 in the OUA west while the Lions drop to 0-8 in the OUA east.
Play in the first quarter remained very close as the two teams played each other very close, and the scoreboard initially reflected that. However, after the Gryphons snagged a couple foul shots and two point baskets, they pulled ahead to close out the first quarter 15-9.
The Lions could not respond to the Gryphons' continued advances and the visiting team took the lead 43-26 to close out the half.
The third quarter started off with two successful foul shots by the Gryphons due to a technical foul charged to Lions coach Tom Oliveri.
The Lions fought hard to come back, sinking three-pointers and two-point baskets, but it would not be enough to match the Gryphons in this matchup. The Gryphons would go on to claim the win.
The Gryphons got most of their offence from the tandem of Kareem Malcom and Daniel McCarthy, who each tallied 23 points. No other player on the team has more than nine.
The Gryphons will be back in action at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 when they travel to Brock to take on the Badgers.
