Gryphons fall to Lions, 93-75

Nov. 27: York 93 – Guelph 75

GUELPH, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphon's dropped another disappointing game, at the hands of the York Lions 93-75 Saturday evening at the W.F. Mitchell Centre.

The Gryphons drop to 3-5 on the season, while the Lions now move to 3-5.

The Gryphons were led by Dan McCarthy (Guelph, Ont.), who scored a game high 28 points. Kevin Cameron (Guelph, Ont.) added 12 off the bench, while Michael Petrella (Brantford, Ont.) added eight with a game high nine assists. Petrella's nine assists matched the Lion's total number for the game.

David Tyndale lead the Lions with 19 points, while Dejan Kravic netted 14.

Neither team was able to find much breathing room early on, as the Lions took a 37-36 lead into halftime. Both teams were able to shoot over 50 %.

A sloppy third quarter sealed the Gryphon's fate, as they committed eight turnovers in the quarter, leading to a 20 point scoring advantage for York. McCarthy did his best to lead a Gryphon comeback, netting 13 points in the final quarter, but it was too little too late for the Guelph squad.

Guelph enters the winter break with a 3-5 record. They will hope to start the new year fresh when they host Lakehead January 7th at the W.F. Mitchell Centre. Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm.
