POWERADE MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

KYLE BOORSMA, TRACK & FIELD

Kyle Boorsma of Guelph, Ont. ended his university career in spectacular fashion sweeping the 1500 and 3000 metres completing an undefeated season at the CIS Championships this past weekend.  Kyle won an incredible 3000 metre race Friday night in 8:11.10, the fifth fastest time in championship history and leading a Gryphon 1-2 finish in the event.  Saturday he came back in the 1500 to dominate one of the strongest fields in meet history.  Leading wire to wire Kyle won the race in 3:47.57 narrowly missing the meet record of 3:46.85.  Kyle was named CIS Athlete of the Meet and helped lead the Gryphon team to a silver medal. He graduates as one of the most decorated athletes in Gryphon and CIS track and field history, a 6 time CIS individual Champion, who was part of 7 CIS team championships, bringing home 9 CIS gold and silver medals and 10 All-Canadian awards.
