Cory Hector

The 2025-26 season marks Cory Hector's 10th year in charge of the Gryphons men's rugby program after being named head coach in May of 2016. Cory has led the Gryphons to five OUA titles as head coach, with the U of G men's rugby team hoisting the Turner Trophy in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2016. Prior to serving as head coach, Cory spent seven seasons as an assistant coach with the Gryphons men's rugby team (2009-2015). Cory has earned OUA Coach of the Year honours twice in 2016 and 2024. Cory was named National Coach of the Year in 2024.

Hector spent a total of four seasons playing varsity rugby for the Gryphons and was named a team captain during his senior season in the fall of 2008. The Cambridge, Ontario native went on to graduate from U of G in the spring of 2009 (Bachelor of Arts, History) and officially joined the Gryphons coaching staff in time for the 2009-2010 campaign.

Outside of his coaching role with the Gryphons, Cory has also made a lasting impact both at the professional level with the Toronto Arrows, as well as at the national level through his involvement within Rugby Canada. In the summer of 2024, Cory is set to return for his third stint in charge of the Canada U20 program.
