Joe Polizzi

    Lead Assistant Coach

In 2017-18, Joe Polizzi enters his fifth year on staff as an assistant coach with the University of Guelph Women's basketball team. 

He graduated from McMaster University with an Honours B.A in Geography in '08 and a B. Ed. from Brock University in '09. During his playing career at McMaster he was a member of the '04 OUA Championship team where they earned a bid to the National Championships. Joe was team captain during his senior year at McMaster. 

During high school, Joe attended Cathedral High School where he was a member of three Hamilton City Championship teams, one of which under Coach Mark Walton. During his senior years, he led the team to a AAAA OFSAA Bronze and Silver medal. 

Joe is currently a Health and Physical Education teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Oakville where he has been teaching since 2009. He is the senior boys basketball head coach where he led the team to a AA OFSAA Bronze medal during his first year as head coach. Other coaching experience includes coaching with the girls program at Aquinas for a number of years as well as Head Coach of Oakville Vytis U17 team in 2012. 

Joe is extremely excited to be a part of the staff with Mark Walton as he looks to learn from such an experienced coach and contribute to the development of the program.
