GUELPH, Ont. - On Sunday (Sept. 20), the Gryphons men's soccer team saw their four match unbeaten run come to an end in a 3-2 defeat to the Western Mustangs from the Gryphon Soccer Complex.
Ambrose Tinmouth continued his fine goal scoring form, finding the back of the net in the 3rd minute to give the Gryphons an early 1-0. The goal for the fifth-year management economics and finance major was his 5th of the season as he has scored in all five of his team's regular season games. Both teams would trade goals with the Mustangs scoring in the 11th minute before
Aidan O'Keeffe's goal in the 24th minute to restore the one goal advantage for Guelph. A minute after the goal that put them ahead, the Gryphons would be down to 10 men following the red card. The Mustangs would draw level in the 36th minute before scoring the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute off the Stefano Pelliccioni goal from the penalty spot. The 10-men of Guelph battled in search of the tying goal in the second half but were unable to find it one as their four match unbeaten run came to an end. The Gryphons (3-1-1) will look to rebound on the road when they take take on the McMaster Marauders on Friday night (Sept. 25) in Hamilton.
