GATINEAU, QC – The University of Guelph men's and women's Nordic ski teams were in Gatineau, Quebec at Nakkertok Ski Club to compete at the 2026 OUA Nordic Skiing Championships, hosted by the University of Ottawa for a three-day championship event. Teams competed individually on Friday (Feb. 20) in the 15km mass start and Saturday (Feb. 21) in the 9km interval start before wrapping up on Sunday (Feb. 22) with the 3x3km team relay. The Gryphon men came in 8th place in the overall team standings and the women finished in 9th place.
Leading the way on the women's side was third-year bio-medical science major,
Abbygale Davidson. The Springwater, Ontario native produced the best Gryphon individual finish of the weekend, crossing the line in 35th in the 15km mass start with a time of 1:04:51.6 and 41st in the 9km interval start with a time of 33:52.8. First-year Collingwood, Ontario native
Hermione Clarke had a nice showing in the 9km interval start, finishing in 46th in the interval start (35:43.3). Davidson and Clarke were joined by
Zoe Cohen in the team relay where they finished in 13th place.
On the men's side,
Raymon Drost led the way for the Gryphons in the 15km mass start, finished in 50th place (1:02:56.2) while
Henley Baird was the top Gryphon in the 9km interval start in 60th place (36:06.4).
Akshaye Goela joined Drost and Baird in the team relay where they crossed the line in 13th place.
The Carleton Ravens captured both the men's and women's team titles in Gatineau. For more information, visit oua.ca.
