GUELPH, Ont. - The Gryphons men's basketball team suffered a heartbreaking 92-91 loss to the Brock Badgers on Saturday night (Jan. 13) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre. A three-pointer with less than two seconds remaining saw the Badgers escape with the victory after trailing by double-digit early in the fourth quarter. With the loss the Gryphons fall to 4-10 on the season while the Badgers improve to 7-6.

Dezayne Mingo recorded his seventh 25+ point performance of the season Saturday evening, totaling 28 points while adding 5 rebounds, and 8 assists. Second-year guard
Shaathon Walker set a new season-high in scoring with 15 points while forward
Emmanuel Ansah also reached the 15-point mark.
Viktoras Nausedas (13 pts) and rookie guard
Adrian Morra (12 pts) also surpassed the 10-point mark.
Following a tightly-contested opening quarter the Gryphons pulled ahead in the second, building a 7-point advantage by halftime. Despite another back-and-forth third quarter the Gryphons would quickly extend their lead to open the fourth, extending their lead 16 with eight minutes remaining. The Badgers would battle back however, retaking the lead with two minutes remaining. Fans in attendance then saw
Dezayne Mingo head to the free throw line on three conseuctive possessions, including a three-shot trip to the line with 11 seconds left to give the Gryphons a 2-point lead. Micheal Okeke of the Badgers then connected on a three-point shot with 1.2 seconds left to steal the victory.
THe Gryphons (4-10) will return to action Wednesday night (Jan. 17) for a road game against the McMaster Marauders (7-6) before returning home to host the TMU Bold (8-5) Saturday evening (Jan. 20).
