GUELPH, Ont. – Wednesday night (Nov. 22, 2023) at the Guelph Gryphons Athletics Centre, the Gryphons women's basketball team extended their win streak to four in a row thanks to a convincing 68-52 victory over the visiting Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks. The Gryphons jumped out to a quick start on their homecourt and never looked back, with the home team leading by 7 points after the 1st quarter, and by 19 points heading into halftime, en route to a 16-point victory over the Golden Hawks. With the win, the Gryphons improve to 5-2 on the season and move into top spot in the OUA West Division standings, while Laurier's record falls to 4-3 on the season.

Leading the way for the Gryphons on Wednesday night was third-year guard, Julia Colavecchia, who poured in a team-high 17 points on an efficient 5-of-10 shooting from the floor, including the 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. Colavecchia, a native of Niagara Falls, Ontario and a family studies and human development major at the University of Guelph, also hauled in 7 rebounds on a night in which Guelph out-rebounded Laurier by a 40-to-28 margin. Lucy Tesseyman vs WLUGryphons third-year guard Renee Armstrong also had a strong night, with a team-high 6 blocks on the night, to go along with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the London, Ontario native. Another third-year London native who impressed on the night was Lucy Tesseyman, who contributed nicely with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks while shooting 6-of-10 from the floor. The Gryphons shot an impressive 45.2% from the floor as a team, while holding Laurier to just 29.4% shooting (20-68).
